First Round Results
 
SOUTHPORT, N.C. – The Elon University men's golf team made its debut at the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golf Championship today, April 24, and shot a 312 that has the Phoenix in seventh place after one round. The team leaderboard is tight, with just 10 shots separating third place from seventh place in the standings.

Jonathan DiIanni continued his solid play with a 77, the best round by an Elon player. DiIanni, the April 15 recipient of the CAA Golfer of the Week award, finished his round with a birdie on the back nine and sits in a tie for 16^th after 18 holes.
 
Will DiIanni and Charlie May shot identical rounds of 78, good for a tie for 21^st. Each holed two birdies on the day while DiIanni carded an eagle on the par-4 17^th hole to finish his round on a high note.
 
One shot behind DiIanni and May is Jake Leavitt, who is tied for 28^th after a first-round 79. After a 41 on the front, Leavitt began his second nine with one of his two birdies and recorded pars on seven his final nine holes to close with a 38 on the back.
 
Troy Beaver is in a tie for 35^th after shooting a first-round 82.
 
Defending champion College of Charleston (293) holds an eight-shot lead after one round. A 301 has UNC Wilmington in second place while James Madison and William & Mary trail the Seahawks by just one and three shots, respectively.
 
CofC's John Jonas has a one-shot lead on the individual leaderboard after a first-round 70. CofC's Josh Lorenzetti and UNCW's Thomas Eldridge (71) are one shot back.
 
Round two will be played at The Reserve Club at St. James Plantation on Saturday.
