ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball guard Dmitri "Big Meech" Thompson has been nominated for the 2018 State Farm Dark Horse Dunker competition. Thompson, a senior captain from Orlando, Florida, has advanced past the first two rounds of the fan voting and matches up against Max Pearce of Purchase College in the semifinals.

Thompson now just needs to win two more rounds to be selected as this year's Dark Horse Dunker at the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at the Final Four in San Antonio.

Vote for Dmitri Thompson once per day and share the link to vote on all social media channels using the hashtag #VoteBigMeech. Fans can vote for Thompson, starting at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 1, by visiting darkhorsedunker.com.

The following rules apply
- Fans are limited to one (1) vote per calendar day per device for each head-to-head bracketing matchup. Once the clock hits midnight, fans are free to vote again for that next day.
- Fans can NOT offer any type of payment, giveaways or any type of incentives for votes. Doing so can lead to disqualification.

There will be four weeks of fan voting (February 13 – March 16)
- Round of 16 (Feb. 13-Feb. 20)
- Quarterfinals (Feb. 21-Feb. 28)
- Semifinals (Mar. 1-Mar. 8)
- Finals (Mar. 9-16)

The State Farm Dark Horse Dunker is a bracket-style elimination competition that will send one Dark Horse Dunker to the State Farm College Slam Dunk competition on March 29 during Final Four weekend in San Antonio.

Opening round voting is open for one week and features eight head-to-head matchups. Winners will be announced Feb. 20 when Round Two opens. Voting for Round Two, the semi-finals and the finals also will be open one week each. The champion will be announced March 16th at DarkHorseDunker.com and will travel to San Antonio to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, which airs March 29 live on ESPN.
 
Fans will determine the winner by voting daily at DarkHorseDunker.com throughout the four-week competition. The 16-player field is stocked with under-the-radar players who possess the power, creativity and hops to compete against college basketball's stars in the College Slam Dunk Championship.
