ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's and women's cross country programs are set to compete at the East Carolina Pirate Invitational on Friday, Oct. 18, at the course at Overton's Lake Kristi. The meet begins with the women's 6K at 4 p.m. followed by the men's 8K at 4:40 p.m.

About the Field
There will a representative from 18 teams in both the men's and women's races at the meet on Friday. Along with Elon and host school East Carolina, other notable programs at the meet include VCU, Richmond, Duke, UNCW, College of Charleston, No. 9 NC State, UNCG, Coastal Carolina and Western Carolina.

Last Time Out
Elon had a select group compete at the Royals XC Challenge last Friday, Oct. 11, at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, N.C. The Phoenix men were 21
st at the meet with 628 points while the women's team was 25
th with 685 points. Both squads raced without many of their top runners at the meet.
Tierney clocked the third-fastest time in school history in the 8K, crossing the line at 24:33 and finished 16
th overall in a race of over 500 competitors. The East Greenwich, R.I., native later earned the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week for his performance this past Tuesday, Oct. 15.
In the women's 5K,
Hannah Miller was the top finisher for the maroon and gold women with her time of 19:17.5.
