THE MATCHUP
-This will be the 36
th matchup between the two teams. The Mountaineers lead the overall series 23-12.
-Elon last faced App State in Boone on Nov. 20, 2018. The Mountaineers won the contest 65-62.

ABOUT ELON
-The Phoenix hosted Western Carolina in its home opener on Saturday, Nov. 9. Elon came up victorious, outscoring the Catamounts 68-24.
-No team in the CAA has allowed an opponent to score that low of points since at least the 1998-99 season.

Jada Graves led the Elon offense, finishing the game with a team-high 12 points. The shot 5-7 from the field and 2-2 from beyond the arc.
Brie Perpignan and
Saadia Munford also tallied nine points apiece, while Perpignan also led the team in steals (3).
-The Phoenix also played Winston-Salem State in an exhibition in Schar Center last week, defeating the Rams 77-48.
Maya Johnson (14), Ariel Colón (12), and Perpignan (11) all finished with doubles figures in scoring, while
Jaylin Powell totaled a team-best nine rebounds.
-Elon welcomes three freshmen to the roster in
Teylah Saunders, Johnson, and
Vanessa Taylor. Junior
Peyton Carter also joins the roster after spending two seasons at the University of Colorado.
-The CAA announced in its preseason poll that the Phoenix was picked eighth, earning 28 points. James Madison was named the favorite, totaling 81 points and nine first-place votes.Â
-Elon is led by ninth year head coach
Charlotte Smith, who led the Phoenix to two consecutive CAA Championship titles in 2017 and 2018.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2019-20
-Following the game, Elon will travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to face Marist on Sunday, Nov. 17. The Phoenix will then travel to UNC on Nov. 22 before returning home to host Wake Forest on Nov. 25.
-The Phoenix will be on the road for a majority of the holiday season. After the game against Wake Forest, Elon will have eight consecutive road games against UNLV, St.John's/IUPUI, NC State, Newberry, Coastal Carolina, Furman, Towson, and James Madison.
-Elon opens CAA play with a road contest at Towson on Jan. 3.

SCOUTING APPALACHIAN STATE
-App State lost their season opener against VCU 66-38.
-Pre Stanley led the Mountaineers with 11 points, shooting 4-16 from the field and 3-4 from behind the charity stripe, while Ashley Polacek and Bayley Plummer recorded eight points apiece. Lainey Gosnell also posted a team-best eight rebounds.
-The loss came after an 82-49 victory in an exhibition game against Lees-McRae. 11 of the 12 players that made an appearance scored, with Maya Calder (14), Gosnell (12), and Stanley scoring in the double figures.
-The Mountaineers were picked to finish fifth in the Sun Belt. Plummer and Stanley were selected to the All-Sun Belt Preseason Team.
-The team returns four of five starters and 11 letterwinners.

UP NEXT
The Phoenix will have its first road contest of its 2019-20 campaign against Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17. Elon will then travel to Chapel Hill to take on the UNC Tar Heels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22.
