ELON, N.C.- The Elon University women's basketball team will be competing in the Play4Kay free throw challenge during the 2019-20 season. The challenge benefits the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, an organization whose mission is to help those battling cancer, predominantly women, through conducting research and assisting the underserved.
Â
"Coach Yow is a big part of Elon women's basketball," said head coach
Charlotte Smith. "Her legacy stretches beyond competition to bring us all together for a great cause, the fight against cancer. We are excited to once again support the Kay Yow Foundation. Our hope is that our friends, families, and fans get behind us with financial support to help find a cure for cancer."
Â
The initiative is the fund's largest fundraiser and plays a major role in uniting players, coaches, and communities in the fight against all cancers affecting women. During the challenge, Elon competes against other teams around the country - including others in the CAA - to raise the most money and be crowned champions.
