ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's basketball will be in Chapel Hill on Friday, Nov. 22 when it faces UNC in a 6:00 p.m. matchup.

THE MATCHUP
-This will be the 13th matchup between the Phoenix and Tar Heels. North Carolina leads the series 10-2.
-The two teams last crossed paths on Nov. 6, 2018 in the Phoenix's first game in Schar Center. UNC won the game 100-69.
ABOUT ELON
-The Phoenix took its first loss of the season when it traveled to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Sunday, Nov. 17 for a contest against Marist. The Red Foxes won 63-55.
-Four Elon players scored in the double digits:
Kayla Liles (13),
Jada Graves (12), Ariel Colón (11), and
Maya Johnson (10). Liles also tied her career high for steals in a single game (3).
-The CAA announced in its preseason poll that the Phoenix was picked eighth, earning 28 points. James Madison was named the favorite, totaling 81 points and nine first-place votes.
-Elon is led by ninth year head coach
Charlotte Smith, who led the Phoenix to two consecutive CAA Championship titles in 2017 and 2018. She recently recorded her 150th career win last week in the Phoenix's overtime win against App State.
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2019-20
-The Phoenix will next play Wake Forest in Schar Center on Monday, Nov. 25 at 7:00 p.m. Elon will then travel to Las Vegas over Thanksgiving weekend to play a pair of games at the Lady Rebel Roundup.
-The Phoenix will be on the road for a majority of the holiday season. After the game against Wake Forest, Elon will have eight consecutive road games against UNLV, St.John's/IUPUI, NC State, Newberry, Coastal Carolina, Furman, Towson, and James Madison.
-Elon opens CAA play with a road contest at Towson on Jan. 3.
SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA
-UNC currently stands at 3-0 on the season. In all three matchups, the Tar Heels won by at least 30 points.
-North Carolina was picked to finish ninth in the ACC in both the coaches' and Blue Ribbon preseason voting. Center Janelle Bailey was also named to the Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Team for the second year in a row.
UP NEXT
Elon will next host Wake Forest on Monday, Nov. 25 at 7:00 p.m. The team will then head out west to Las Vegas to compete in the Lady Rebel Roundup over Thanksgiving weekend. The Phoenix will have matchups against UNLV on Saturday, Nov. 30 and either IUPUI or St. John's on Sunday, Dec. 1.
