RALEIGH, N.C. – Elon University men's golf turned in an even 288 to place ninth following the opening round of the 2021 Wolfpack Intercollegiate on Saturday, Oct. 16. NC State is hosting the tournament at its home course, Lonnie Poole Golf Course, which features a par of 72 and a yardage of 7,358. 

James Madison shot an 11-under par 277 to lead the 16-team field through the first 18 holes. UNCG was two strokes behind the Dukes and in second with a 9-under 279, and Furman and Virginia Tech both tied for third with a six-under 282. The host Wolfpack posted a three-under 285 to sit in fifth place.

After an hour and a half delay, round two was called at 6:30 p.m. due to darkness. Through 13-14 holes scored, the Phoenix is currently at four under in the round and has moved up into a tie for sixth with Furman.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
Pedro Rabadan and Matthew Doyle both carded a two-under 70 in the first round to tie for 12th. Rabadan had back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth holes and finished with five in the round. Doyle made four birdie putts with a pair on the 10th and 11th holes. Garrett Risner birdied the third and fourth holes and is tied for 20th with a one-under 71. William Frodigh turned in an even 72 to tie for 33rd, Bronson Myers shot a three-over 75 to tie for 63rd, and Juan Callejo Ropero is tied for 78th after hitting a five-over 77.

UP NEXT
Round two will resume with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday. Teams will then continue into the third and final round.
