Box Score ELON, N.C. – Kellyn Trowse recorded her second double-double in as many matches, but Elon University volleyball dropped its CAA match at Northeastern 3-0 on Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Cabot Center.
"Northeastern played very well today and deserved the win," said head coach
Mary Tendler. "We fought hard on every play, but the execution wasn't there at a consistent enough level. It is tough to win on the road in the CAA; we will need a big effort next weekend at William & Mary."

THE RUNDOWN
The Phoenix (13-9, 8-4 CAA) scored nine unanswered, highlighted by three kills from Trowse, to build an early 10-4 advantage in the first set. However, the Huskies (11-9, 7-3) responded with a 9-1 swing to wrestle away control at 14-12. A 6-1 push then extended the hosts' lead to 22-16. Trowse and
Haylie Clark scored two kills late as Elon trailed 24-21, but NU earned the set point.
Elon went up 7-3 in the second set as
Ericka Link capped off a 4-0 run with an ace. The Huskies then took over at 20-15, but a kills from Clark and
Leah Daniel and two aces by Trowse helped the maroon and gold knot the score at 20-20. Down the stretch, Daniel put away a ball from
Jordan Gower for another tie at 21-21. The home team secured the next four points, though, as NU claimed the set with another 25-21 tally.
In Set Three, a block by
Julia Crabtree and
Jenn Krzeminski and a service ace from
Alex VanWestrienen gave the Phoenix the lead at 15-14. NU's offense then broke out for six straight points.
Sydney Love and Trowse converted a couple of attacks and the Huskies committed a ball handling error as Elon trimmed the hosts' lead to 20-18, but NU closed out the set and the match with a 5-0 run.
HIGHLIGHTS
Trowse led the team in kills with 10 as she swung for a .276 clip. The senior from Tampa, Fla. added 10 digs, one assist and two aces to her totals. Daniel was next in kills with eight, Clark followed with six and Love finished her afternoon with five. Clark also tallied 23 assists, while Link contributed seven. Krzeminksi and Cummins both registered three blocks, while Clark and Daniel had two each. Gower paced the back row with 15 digs.

- Northeastern extends its lead in the all-time series to 11-5.
- The match featured 14 ties and seven lead changes.
- Northeastern combined to hit for a .288 percentage while Elon hit .125.
- Northeastern led Elon in points (59.5-46.0), kills (47-34), assists (45-33) and digs (59-51). Both teams finished with six service aces and six blocks.
- With 1,166 career kills, Daniel is now one kill shy of tying Laura Griffin (1999-02) for ninth place on Elon's all-time career leaders list.
- Clark pushes her streak of matches with double-digit assists to 47.
- The Phoenix is now fourth in the CAA standings. Towson, James Madison and Northeastern are ahead of the maroon and gold at 7-3.
