PINEHURST, N.C. – The Elon University men's golf team shot a five-over 289 in round two, good for third place entering the final day of the 2021 Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
 
Through two rounds, the Phoenix has a combined 26-over par 594. The team is now five strokes behind the overall leader Dayton, who sits at a 36-hole total of 589 (+21). Longwood is just ahead of Elon and in second place with a 592 (+24).

"Couldn't be more proud of the way the team fought back today," said head coach Don Hill. "Led by William Frodigh, each player converted shots throughout the course of the round to put us in a great position leading into our final 18."
 
HIGHLIGHTS
Frodigh bettered his opening-round performance by eight strokes, recording a two-under par 69 on the day. The Westwood, Mass. native is tied for seventh with a two-day total of 146 (+4). Next for the Phoenix was Pedro Rabadan, who shot a two-over 73 and is tied for ninth with a 147 (+5). Max Ferrari is two strokes behind Rabadan and tied for 23rd with 149 (+7) after carding a 72 in the second round. Cristian Del Vecchio and Josef Dransfeld are tied for 47th with a 155 (+13), and Graham Hutchinson is tied for 52nd with a 156 (+14).

Frodigh has made six putts for birdie and 23 for par through the two rounds. Rabadan has made 25 pars, and Ferrari and Dransfeld have also made 23 pars.

For the final round of the tournament, Elon will tee off from the first hole between 9:03-9:12 a.m.
