CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – After the final round of the 2021 Tar Heel Intercollegiate, the Elon University men's golf team finished in 12th place on Monday, March 29 at Finley Golf Course.
 
The Phoenix recorded a combined 15-over par 303 through the final 18 holes to end up with a three-round total of 891 (+27). The host Tar Heels won their own tournament with a 28-under 836. Campbell was the runner-up with a 10-under 854, and Michigan State was third with a seven-under 857. UNC's Peter Fountain captured the individual trophy with a 15-under 201 and Campbell's Pontus Nyholm was four strokes behind him and in second with an 11-under 205.

"Today didn't go as expected," said head coach Don Hill. "But golf can be a tough, cruel game. Fortunately we have roughly 12 days to prepare for the Stitch Intercollegiate."
 
HIGHLIGHTS
Max Ferrari was Elon's top finisher as the Framingham, Mass. native tied for 29th with a five-over par 221. Graham Hutchinson was next with a six-over 222 to tie for 36th. Cristian Del Vecchio tied for 44th with a 223 (+7) and Josef Dransfeld tied for 50th with a 225 (+9). Rounding out the scores were Will Frodigh, who tied for 65th with a 228 (+12), and Pedro Rabadan, who carded a 229 (+13) to finish tied for 70th.

UP NEXT
The team will travel to Cary, N.C. on April 9-10 to compete in the Stitch Intercollegiate, hosted by NC State at MacGregor Downs Country Club.
