DURHAM, N.C. – The Elon University men's golf team finished 14th after playing the final round of the Rod Myers Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 12.
The Phoenix combined for a 22-over par 310 through the final 18 holes at the Duke University Golf Club. North Carolina won the invitational with a 27-under 837, and UNC's Ryan Gerard was the individual champion after carding a 15-under 201. NC State placed second as a team, and the Wolfpack's Maximilian Steinlechner was the runner-up with a 13-under 203.
HIGHLIGHTS
William Frodigh was the top finisher for the maroon and gold, tying for 41st at 223 (+7).
Matthew Doyle followed with a 228 (+12) to tie for 61st and
Garrett Risner ended up with a 231 (+15) to tie for 69th.
Juan Callejo Ropero and
Max Ferrari both tied for 76th with a three-round total of 237 (+21).
Frodigh averaged a 3.08 in par 3 scoring and a 4.42 for par 5 scoring. Ferrari also recorded the team's lone eagle of the Invitational today on the par-4 13th hole.
