ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball rounds out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 26, when it travels to Boston, Mass. for a 12 p.m. matchup with Northeastern.

THE MATCHUP
- Saturday afternoon marks the 16th meeting between Elon and Northeastern.
- The Phoenix currently trails the Huskies in the all-time series, 11-5.
- In the most recent meeting between the two programs, Elon led wire-to-wire, in a 79-62 victory over Northeastern on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Schar Center.
- Darius Burford led the charge for the Phoenix, dropping a season-high 23 points on 11-of-18 shooting. Burford also added five rebounds, three assists and three steals in his 34 minutes of action.
- Hunter McIntosh finished with a season-high 20 points, including 14 in the second half, adding five rebounds in a team-high 38 minutes. McIntosh matched a career-high with six triples in the contest, shooting 6-of-9 from beyond the arc.
- Michael Graham filled out the stat sheet for Elon, chipping in 10 points and a season-high four blocks while matching career-highs in assists (2) and steals (2).
- Zac Ervin posted eight points and three rebounds in 21 minutes, while Chuck Hannah logged five points, four rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes.

SCOUTING ELON
- Junior guard and Preseason All-CAA First Team honoree Hunter McIntosh is second on the team in scoring at 13.0 points per game, adding 2.9 assists per contest. McIntosh has scored in double figures in 53 career games, including 19 times this season. He currently ranks in the sixth in the conference in scoring at 14.7 ppg through 17 CAA contests this year. In Elon's all-time program history, McIntosh currently sits 7th in threes made (212) and in scoring (1,084 points).
- Former CAA All-Rookie honoree Darius Burford is currently leading the team in scoring (13.7 ppg), assists (3.0 apg) and steals (1.5 spg). Burford also ranks third on the team in rebounding (4.2 rpg). The sophomore has scored in double figures 19 times and has nabbed at least two steals in 12 games this season. His 15.7 ppg scoring average in conference play also ranks fifth in the CAA.
- Sophomore center Michael Graham ranks third on the team in scoring (9.3 ppg), while leading the team in rebounding at 6.8 rpg. Graham has registered six double doubles and scored at least 10 points in 15 games this season. His 7.3 rebounding average ranks fourth in the CAA during conference play.
- Torrence Watson is fourth on the team in scoring 9.2 points per game, adding 3.0 rebounds per contest as well. Watson has gotten to the charity stripe 61 times this season, knocking down 52 of his attempts for a team-high 85.2 free throw percentage.
- Junior forward Zac Ervin is fifth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.2 points per game, adding 3.0 rebounds per contest. Ervin has knocked down 47 threes while shooting at a 35.9 percent clip from long distance so far this season.
- Junior forward Hunter Woods is chipping in 5.8 points and 4.6 rebounds in 23.9 minutes through 29 games this season. Woods is also currently second on the team in steals this season with 30 total.
- Senior forward Chuck Hannah is averaging 4.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game.
- Freshman center Sam Sherry has gotten his Elon career off to a solid start, averaging 2.5 points in just under eight minutes of action per game.
- Elon currently ranks second in the CAA in total threes made (256) threes made per game (8.5) and field goal percentage defense (43.4).
- Elon set a program record for points at Schar Center (107), threes made (20) and assists (27) in its home opener against Randolph.
- Seniors Chuck Hannah and Kris Wooten will serve as the team captains for the 2021-22 season.
- This season marks the third for Head Coach Mike Schrage at the helm of the Elon program.
 
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
- Northeastern enters the contest with an 8-20 overall record and a 2-15 mark in conference play after defeating William & Mary, 62-28, in its most recent contest. Chris Doherty led the Huskies in the contest, dropping 13 points and 15 rebounds in 26 minutes. Jason Strong added 13 points and two rebounds, while Jahmyl Telfort posted 11 points and six assists.
- Bill Coen is in the midst of his 16th season at the helm of the Northeastern program. Coen is the winningest coach in the Huskies program history, having compiled a 259-242 overall record in his career.
- The Huskies are powered by Jahmyl Telfort who leads the team in scoring at 12.9 ppg, adding 2.8 rpg. Northeastern has also gotten contributions from Tyreek Scott-Grayson (12.3 ppg and 5.3 rpg) and Chris Doherty (11.4 ppg and 9.2 rpg) early on this season.


LAST TIME OUT
- Elon dominated Hofstra, 81-55, on Thursday, Feb. 24, at the Mack Sports & Exhibition Center in Hempstead, N.Y. The Phoenix had four players score in double figures and held a season-best +29 margin on the boards.
- Darius Burford led the charge for the Phoenix, dropping 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Burford has now scored at least 20 points in three consecutive games and in seven contests overall this season. The sophomore's two takeaways tonight also marked the 12th game this year that he has recorded at least two steals.
- Hunter McIntosh chipped in 18 points, four rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes. It was the 14th 15+ point performance for McIntosh this season and marked his 53rd 10+ point outing in his Elon career.
- Andrew Junkin continued his strong play of late, finishing with career-highs in points (16), rebounds (10), free throws (6), field goals (5) and minutes (23). The performance marked both the first double-double and the first 10+ point effort of Junkin's career.
- Michael Graham added 12 points and eight rebounds in just 11 minutes of action. It was the 15th career double-digit scoring outing for Graham and his first since dropping 15 points in a win over UNCW on Feb. 3.
- Elon allowed a season-low in field goal percentage in the game, holding Hofstra to just 18-of-61 (29.5%) shooting from the floor.
- The Phoenix set new season-highs in total rebounds (55) and rebound margin (+29), while limiting Hofstra to the lowest mark for an opponent this season with 26. Elon's 55 boards tonight were also the most for the program since grabbing 55 against Milligan on Nov. 8, 2019.
 
THE FACES OF 2021-22
- Elon returned three starters in Chuck Hannah, All-CAA Second Team honoree Hunter McIntosh and CAA All-Rookie selection Darius Burford.
- Other returnees for the Phoenix includes seniors Jerald Gillens-Butler, Kris Wooten and Charlie Mendys, juniors Ben Daugherty, Hunter Woods and Zac Ervin, and sophomores Michael Graham and JaDun Michael.
-Additionally, the maroon and gold welcomes five newcomers to the squad in Mizzou transfer Torrence Watson, Mississippi State transfer Andrew Junkin and freshmen RJ Noord, Sam Sherry and Reece Clark.
 
CAA PRESEASON POLL
- The Colonial Athletic Association announced its preseason poll on Thursday, Oct. 28, with Elon tabbed to finish sixth.
- The Phoenix had two student-athletes earn preseason all-conference honors in Hunter McIntosh (1st Team) and Jerald Gillens-Butler (Honorable Mention).
- Elon earned a total of 202 points in the poll, including one first-place vote.
- Delaware was chosen as the preseason favorite with 296 points and 19 first-place votes, followed by Northeastern with 246 points and seven first-place votes. Drexel (234 points; five first-place votes), James Madison (224 points, three first-place votes) and Hofstra (211 points; one first-place vote) rounded out the top five.
 
COMING SOON
- Elon rounds out the 2021-22 regular season against Northeastern on Feb. 26.
- The Phoenix will then prepare for the upcoming CAA Tournament, set to begin on March 5. With Elon clinching the seventh seed, it will play its first contest of the tournament on March 6.
