ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's golf and head coach
Don Hill have added two future Phoenix golfers in Oliver Rotermund (Charleston, S.C./Bishop England High School) and Landon Durham (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Savannah Country Day School).
"We're excited to announce the addition of both Ollie and Landon," said Hill. "Coach
Dan Ruyle and I believe these two young men will make us better and have the chance to contribute right away!"
Rotermund began his high school career at Steamboat Springs High School in Steamboat Springs, Colo., where he was named his team's Most Valuable Player as a freshman in 2018. A team co-captain in 2019, he earned First Team All-State honors before transferring to Bishop England for his junior year. Rotermund helped the Battling Bishops earn the team win at the South Carolina 4A State Championship, he competed in the 2020 Major Champions Jr. Invitational on Team Brooks Koepka, and he won the SCJGA Upstate Jr. Classic. As a senior in 2021, he posted a Top-15 finish at the South Carolina State Amateur Championship behind an opening-round score of 66 (-6). He then shot an eight-under par 206 to come in second at the Alamance County Amateur.
"Ollie is a tremendous addition to our golf program," continued Hill. "In many ways, he has come into his own in the last 18 months with consistently good play against many of the top junior players in the country."
Durham was named an All-State Second Team selection after helping Savannah Country Day School to a runner-up finish at the 2021 GHSA Class-A Private State Championship. He was named the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) Player of the Year and added HJGT First Team honors, finished first at the 2021 North Florida Junior Golf (NFJG) Tournament of Champions, and received the Frank Carmel Character Award. Durham also posted wins at the 2021 Coastal Carolina Junior Open, the 2021 Lake Buena Vista Junior Open and the 2021 World Golf Village Junior Open.
"Landon is another young man who has exploded onto the junior scene in recent months," added Hill. "Recently named Hurricane Junior Player of the Year, Landon has great speed and tremendous upside."
Rotermund is already on campus and enrolled this spring while Durham will join the Phoenix next fall.
