AT THE PLATE

Alex Iadisernia (1-for-3) had a run and two walks,
Luke Stephenson (1-for-3) came around once and added an RBI,
Parker Haskin (1-for-4) drove in one run and
Carlos Marte (1-for-4) collected Elon's other hit.
THE RUNDOWN
Elon opened the scoring in the bottom of the first. After a one-out Coolahan double down the right-field line and an Iadisernia single placed runners on the corners, Stephenson pushed a ball through the left side of the defense for the early 1-0 lead. The Demon Deacons (22-7, 6-6 ACC) then jumped ahead with a four-run top of the third. The visitors loaded the bases with one out and a single through the left side brought in two runs. Another hit through the left side and a base hit to left center put Wake Forest in front, 4-1. The Deacs then tacked on another run in the fourth as Kyle Joye hit a solo home run to left.
The Phoenix loaded the bases with no outs in the home half of the fifth, but were only able to plate one run as
Justin Cassella scored on a Granatell RBI fielder's choice. Iadisernia was intentionally walked to reload the bases, but Stephenson went down swinging. Wake Forest answered with one run in the sixth on two singles and a double to left field. Elon ran the bags full with no outs again in the bottom of the eighth. Iadisernia came home on a Haskin ground out to second, cutting the deficit in half, 6-3.
Samuel Frontino then pinch hit for Cassella and worked a full count to reload the bases.
Bryce Jeske earned an RBI with a ground out to short to close the gap 6-4, but Elon was unable to continue the offensive spurt as Marte went down looking. The Phoenix then went down in order in the ninth to end the game.
