A two-time honoree on the Conference Carolinas Second Team, the graduate transfer rounded out his 2022 campaign with career-highs in scoring (14.4 ppg) and rebounding (3.4 rpg), adding 4.4 apg and 1.5 spg to his totals. In his career, Halloran has racked up 1,422 points, putting him in the top-20 in Belmont Abbey's program history, adding 324 rebounds along the way.
A marksman, Halloran ended this season shooting a blistering 52.7 percent from beyond the arc and holds a career three-point percentage of 42.5. The Florida native has also piled up 147 career steals, ranking second all-time at Belmont Abbey. He will join Elon's program in the fall of 2022.
"Sean is an absolute winner, and we are thrilled to have him at Elon. He will bring experience, leadership, and IQ to our program. While his time here on the court may be short, his impact in the locker room will be felt for years to come. To be able to coach him again, this time at Elon, will be really special."
John Bowen III
A forward out of Bladenboro, N.C., Bowen has most recently played at UNC Wilmington after transferring from Belmont Abbey following the 2018-19 season. In 2020-21 at UNCW, Bowen posted averages of 4.1 points and 3.3 rebounds, also blocking 14 shots in his 12 appearances. A two-time honoree on the CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll, Bowen rounded out his Seahawks career with a total of 101 points and 80 rebounds in just over 400 minutes of action.
Prior to UNCW, the 6-7 transfer attended Belmont Abbey where he appeared in 56 games, making 23 starts. In two seasons with the Crusaders, Bowen chipped in 5.8 ppg and 3.8 rpg while shooting 50.6 percent from the floor and 72.5 percent from the charity stripe. In his sophomore season in 2018-19, the North Carolina native posted career highs in points per game (8.9), rebounds per game (5.5) and total blocks (36), helping lead the Crusaders to a 23-8 overall record. Bowen is set to join the maroon and gold in the fall of 2022.
"I am excited to get an opportunity to coach John again. He is an outstanding man of character and a tremendous worker. His familiarity with our system and his experience in the CAA will be a valuable asset for our team."
Deandre Smart
A powerful forward out of Savannah, Ga., Smart played his final season of high school ball at The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut. Prior to Loomis Chaffee, Smart attended New Hampstead High School in Savannah where he averaged 15 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 2.3 apg, and 2 bpg. In his career, the two-time Team MVP was named a First Team All-Region selection three times. Smart has earned First Team All-Greater Savannah honors, also picking up All-State honors along the way.
The 6-6 Georgia product will join the Phoenix program in the fall of 2022 with plans to major in Finance.
"We are so happy that Deandre has decided to come to Elon. He has a sense of toughness and maturity about him that we can't wait to coach. His ability to be a force inside while also guarding and playing on the perimeter will be huge for our team. Dre's humility and coachability is also something we are extremely excited about.
LA Pratt
A guard out of Columbus, Ohio, Pratt most recently attended Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Midland, PA. During his time at Lincoln Park, Pratt was a named to the All-4A Team three times, was a three-time Conference Champion, a one-time WPIAL Champion and a 1,000-point scorer. A standout off the court as well, the 2022 Mac Student-Athlete of the Year award winner finished his high school career with a 3.8 GPA and was a National Honors Society nominee. He will join Elon's program in the fall of 2022 with plans to major in Exercise Science.
"LA was one of the first players we targeted when we got to Elon. He is one of those special talents that can really take a program to the next level with his size and playmaking ability at the lead guard spot. He comes from a strong culture at Lincoln Park where he had a major impact on winning. We expect him to have that same impact over the course of his career here at Elon."
Max Mackinnon
A wing out of Brisbane, Australia, Mackinnon has been a force at Lake Ginninderra College since his arrival. Standing 6-5, Mackinnon started playing professionally in the NBL in Australia at the age of 17. In his playing career, Mackinnon has won back-to-back Gold Medals with the U20 Australian National Team and was named an All-Star 5 at the Australian National Championship. His efforts earned him a scholarship to the Centre of Excellence and the NBA Global Academy.
Coming from a family of basketball players, Mackinnon's mom, Rebecca, played collegiately at the University of Alabama, while his father, Sam, played professionally in Australia for 16 years. He will join the maroon and gold in the fall of 2022.
"We are so excited to bring Max here from Australia. Coming from great genes, Max clearly knows the game and has performed against high-level competition from a very young age. He is versatile, highly skilled, and extremely competitive. The experience he has playing internationally will translate perfectly to the way we will play."
