RICHMOND, Va. – Garrett Risner is tied for sixth and leading the Elon University men's golf team following the first two rounds of the 2022 VCU Shootout on Monday, Sept. 12. VCU is hosting the event at the Tuckahoe Creek Course at The Country Club of Virginia, a par-72, 6,927-yard course.
 
With a pair of 279s in the first two rounds, the Phoenix is 18-under par for the tournament and seventh place in the team standings. Tournament host VCU leads the team leaderboard at 28-under par, Rhode Island is in second place at 26-under par and George Washington is third at 22-under par.
 
HIGHLIGHTS

• Garrett Risner posted Elon's low round of the day in the first round with a 67. Risner led Elon with 10 birdies and is tied for sixth in the team standings (-7). He also ranks No. 5 in the field in par-4 scoring (3.75).
• With rounds of 70 and 69, Matthew Doyle is tied for 19th in the individual standings (-5). Doyle made seven birdies and just two bogeys in the first two rounds.
• Bronson Myers finished the day with a team-high 27 pars for the Phoenix and posted two rounds of 70 to sit in a tie for 24th (-4).
• Cristian Del Vecchio is tied for 39th (-1) after rounds of 70 and 73. He made seven birdies and played the par-4 holes at 2-under par.
• Pedro Rabadan rounded out Elon's scores with a 36-hole total of 148 (+3) and is tied for 66th. He began with a round of 75 and shaved off two strokes for a 73 in round two.

 
UP NEXT
The Shootout concludes with the third and final round tomorrow. Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
