ELON, N.C. – The Elon University volleyball team (4-7, 2-0 CAA) is set to host its first home CAA series of the season against William & Mary on Saturday and Sunday. Both matches at Schar Center will begin at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Phoenix began CAA play last weekend with a pair of matches against CAA newcomer North Carolina A&T. Elon won the first match in a fifth set and mounted a seven-point comeback in the fourth set of the second match to earn a victory.
- With a team-high 17 kills in Sunday's match, Leah Daniel now has 1,382 in her career. She moved past Debbie Hall (1,366 kills) and Katie Ruoff (1,369 kills) and into third in program history (second in the program's Division I history). She now trails only Velma Degree (1,461 kills) and the current Division I era leader, Emily Hayes (1,450 kills).
- Haylie Clark finished the weekend with 81 assists after posting 40 on Saturday and 41 on Sunday. The senior also had 10 digs on Sunday to complete her seventh double-double of the season.
- Freshman Clara LaRue delivered career-highs with 10 kills, 11.5 points and 2.0 blocks in Sunday's match.
- Elon posted a season-best hitting percentage in Sunday's victory (.283).
- The Phoenix registered 23.0 blocks on Saturday, the most for the team in a match since at least 2006 and one of just two 20 blocks matches since that time (20.0 against Hofstra on Nov. 13, 2015). Elon added another 18.0 blocks on Sunday.
PHOENIX FACTS
- Preseason CAA Player of the Year Leah Daniel ranks No. 4 in the CAA in both kills (150) and kills per set (3.41). The senior's 171 points are also fourth best in the conference.
- With 330 assists and 7.50 assists per set, Haylie Clark is No. 5 in the CAA in both categories. Last year's CAA Setter of the Year is also second on the Phoenix with 98 digs and has registered a double-double in seven of the team's last nine matches.
- Jenn Krzeminski and Sydney Love are both in the top 10 in the CAA in blocks. Krzeminski is sixth with 40.0 blocks, and Love is ninth with 36.0.
- Jordan Gower leads the CAA and ranks No. 25 in the NCAA in digs per set (4.97).
- Senior Jenn Krzeminski is sixth in the CAA with a team-high 40 blocks. Krzeminski is also pacing the Phoenix in hitting percentage (.268 on 168 attacks).
- Elon's freshman class is off to a strong start this season. Brooke Doherty ranks No. 4 on the team with 59 kills, Sydney Daniels is averaging 2.61 digs per set, Lindsey Harris is fourth on the team with 21.0 blocks and Clara LaRue has 14 kills in the team's last two matches.
- As a team, Elon leads the CAA in digs (684) and digs per set (15.55). The maroon and gold also rank No. 2 in the league in total blocks with 97.0.
THE MATCHUP
- Elon leads the all-time series against William & Mary 12-8 and is 6-0 against the Tribe at home.
- The teams split their weekend series last year at William & Mary. The Phoenix won in straight sets on Oct. 30 but fell in a five-set match on Oct. 31.
- William & Mary has won three of the last four matchups in the series.
- The last five matches in the series have been played in Williamsburg, Va. The last time Elon hosted William & Mary was Oct. 20, 2019, when the Phoenix won in four sets.
SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
- William & Mary is 6-4 overall and 1-1 in CAA play after splitting a pair of matches against UNCW last weekend.
- The Tribe was picked to finish tied for ninth in the CAA Preseason Poll.
- William & Mary boasts a balanced attack, as four players have registered at least 62 kills this season. Sabrina Malcolm (83), Kaitlyn Ferguson (79) and Sarah Callender (78) pace the team.
- Sabrina Malcolm ranks No. 4 in the CAA in hitting percentage (.350 on 163 attacks). As a team, the Tribe is second in the conference in the category (.224).
- Two Tribe players split the setting duties for the team. Amy Schwem leads the team in assists (191) and Emma Minnick is second (171).
- Anna Porter has a team-high 161 digs, the third most in the conference.
- Ryann Love, the younger sister of Elon sophomore Sydney Love, has appeared in six matches this season. She ranks second on the Tribe with 27.0 blocks and has 34 kills.
- William & Mary is led by fifth-year head coach Tim Doyle.

The Phoenix treks north to Boston for a pair of CAA road matches against Northeastern next Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1-2. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
