GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Elon University men's golf team is in solo second place following 27 holes of play on Sunday at the Bryan National Collegiate. UNCG is hosting the tournament at the par-72, 7,255-yard Bryan Park Champions Course.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Garrett Risner paced the Phoenix in the opened round with a 4-under par 68. Risner birdied six holes on the back-nine to close out his opening round. To start his second round, Risner finished even, carding three birdies to offset three bogeys. He is leading the field in par-3 scoring average with a 2.50 and birdies with 10.
- Juan Callejo Ropero and Jack Wieler are both tied for 11th at 1-over par. Ropero had an opening round of 76 followed by four birdies in his first nine holes of his second round to move up 36 spots on the leaderboard. Wieler was 2-over par after his opening round and came out strong in the first half of the second round recording a birdie followed by an eagle on the par-5 hole three. Ropero is tied with Risner for a team-best par-5 scoring average (4.50).
- Competing as individuals, Landon Durham and Jennings Glenn are tied for 35th at 4-over par. Durham is leading the team in par-4 scoring (4.00) while Glenn leads the team in pars (19).
- With a 7-over par, Bronson Myers is tied for 51st following the first 27 holes of play. The redshirt-junior made 15 pars and three birdies on the day.
- Matthew Doyle and Timmy Gannon are both tied for 58th at 8-over par. Gannon is second on the team in par-3 scoring (3.00).
- Elon is second in the field in birdies (29) and par-3 scoring average (3.03).

Tomorrow teams will finish the last nine holes of their second round and will complete their final round immediately following.
