WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Elon University men's golf team is 10th following the first two rounds of the Williams Cup on Monday. North Carolina is hosting the tournament at the par-72, 7,280-yard Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C.
The Phoenix posted a 36-hole score of 618 (+42). North Carolina leads with a 16-under par 560 and Auburn is in second with a 1-under par 575.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Garrett Risner is Elon's top individual after posting rounds of 76 and 74 to sit in a tie for 26th place. The junior led the team in par-4 scoring (4.00) and birdies (7).
- Juan Callejo Ropero shot Elon's lowest score in the opening round with a 1-over par 73. He is tied for 42nd place and leads the maroon in gold in par-5 scoring (4.88).
- With rounds of 74 and 81, Bronson Myers is tied for 50th. Myers, along with Callejo and Jack Wieler, all have a team-best 20 pars.
- Wieler is in solo 56th place after a 36-hole total of 159 (+15). The freshman cut three strokes off his opening round score thanks to three birdies on the front nine of his second round.
- Matthew Doyle shot a 19-over par 163 on day one and is in 60th place.

Elon will play the final round of the Williams Cup tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. on holes one and 10.
