Nick Dorn of the Elon University men's basketball team were selected as the CAA Men's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday, Nov. 20.

The duo helped the Phoenix go 2-1 at the Rock Hill Classic last weekend with victories over IUPUI and Holy Cross. Simpkins averaged 15.0 ppg at the tournament while also pulling down 5.0 boards per contest. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native scored a season-high 19 points in the Phoenix's 86-72 win over IUPUI while also hitting 7-of-9 from the free throw line. He later had season-highs in rebounds (seven) and assists (five) while scoring 14 points versus host Winthrop on Sunday.

Dorn also scored a season-high 19 points versus IUPUI as the rookie was 4-of-9 from downtown in the contest. The Charlotte, N.C., native averaged 11.7 points per game last weekend and shot 38 percent from three (8-of-21) while pulling down 3.5 rebounds per game.

Elon will be back in action next Monday, Nov. 27, hosting Presbyterian at Schar Center. That game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff time.
