RICHMOND, Va. – Freshman Max Mackinnon of the Elon University men's basketball team was named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the third straight week and fourth time overall as announced by the league office on Monday, Feb. 20.
 
Mackinnon helped the Phoenix continue its winning ways of late as Elon won two of its three contests last week. The Brisbane, Australia, native scored a game-high 18 points and hit the game-winning free throws in Elon's 70-68 win over Hampton last Monday, Feb. 13. In the Phoenix's 75-68 win at Monmouth this past Saturday, Mackinnon added his third double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds while flirting with a triple-double with seven assists against the Hawks.
 
Mackinnon ties Hofstra's Amar'e Marshall for the most CAA Rookie of the Week honors this season. It's also the most for an Elon freshman since McIntosh was selected four times in 2019-20.
 
Elon travels to William & Mary on Thursday, Feb. 23, to continue its two-game road trip. That game is set for 7 p.m. on FloHoops.
