ELON, N.C. – The 2023-24 non-conference schedule for the Elon University men's basketball team has been released as announced by Phoenix head coach Billy Taylor on Wednesday, Aug. 23. The slate is highlighted by six home dates and a pair of contests at Power 5 opponents Wake Forest and South Carolina.
 
"After a productive summer, we are eager to get back to work in preparation for this year's slate of non-conference games," said Taylor. "As always, we try to build a schedule that will adequately prepare us for CAA play and I think we've succeeded in doing that. What I love about the schedule is that we have six home contests and several regional road games which will give our Elon fanbase many opportunities to support us."
 
Elon opens the slate with a home exhibition versus William Peace on Oct. 31 before kicking off the regular-season at intrastate rival Wake Forest on Nov. 6. It will be the Phoenix's first meeting against the Demon Deacons since 2010.
 
The Phoenix hosts East Tennessee State in its regular-season home opener on Nov. 9 before traveling to North Dakota on Nov. 12. Elon then travels to Rock Hill, S.C., for a tournament at Winthrop on Nov. 17-19 playing against the field of Winthrop, Holy Cross and IUPUI.
 
After the Thanksgiving break, Elon hosts Presbyterian (Nov. 27) and Warren Wilson (Nov. 30) to close out the month of November. The maroon and gold opens December with a pair of road contests at Radford on Dec. 3 before traveling to Piedmont Triad rival UNCG on Dec. 10.
 
After its two-game road swing, Elon will host Bridgewater on Dec. 15 before heading to South Carolina on Dec. 22. The Phoenix and the Gamecocks will have their first meeting on the basketball hardwood since the 2011-12 season. The Phoenix will close out its non-conference slate hosting Valparaiso on Dec. 29.
 
Home and away matchups for the 2023-24 CAA league slate have been released.  The Phoenix will play permanent repeat opponents North Carolina A&T and William & Mary as well as Campbell, UNCW and Northeastern home and away.  Elon will host Delaware, Drexel, Monmouth and Stony Brook at Schar Center while traveling to College of Charleston, Hampton, Hofstra and Towson.
 
The full 2023-24 CAA schedule with dates and game times will be announced at a later date. Game times for the Phoenix's non-conference slate will also be released at a future date.
