ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's tennis team announced its 2023 fall schedule on Monday. The Phoenix will compete in four events, including its annual home tournament.
Elon kicks off its fall by hosting the Elon Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Sept. 15-17. Elon will then travel south to Charlotte to compete at the UNC Charlotte Invitational on Sept. 22-24. After a few weeks off, the Phoenix will return to the courts at ITA Carolina Regionals in Cary, N.C., on Oct. 20-23. Elon will cap off its fall at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., on Oct. 27-29.
The Phoenix is coming off a 15-9 season that included its second consecutive run to the CAA championship match in 2023. Entering his 20th season as head coach,
Michael Leonard returns several important contributors, including
Daniel Martin, the reigning CAA Player of the Year and CAA Tournament MVP, and
Veljko Krstic, the CAA's 2023 Rookie of the Year. Other returners include
Ben Zipay, who was named to the CAA's All-Third Team for doubles,
Oskar Antinheimo and
Jake Pettingell. Elon also welcomes three newcomers for this season – transfers
Dylan Heap and
Juan Sengariz along with freshman
Alonso Roca.
