BOWLING GREEN, Fla. – Garrett Risner is tied for fifth and leading the Elon University men's golf team following the first round of the Allstate Streamsong Invitational on Monday, Sept. 11. Lipscomb is hosting the event at the Streamsong Black Course at The Streamsong Resort, a par-73, 7,320-yard course.
With a 286 in the opening round, the Phoenix is 6-under-par for the tournament and fifth place in the team standings. Tournament host Lipscomb leads the team leaderboard at 16-under par and Kennesaw State is in second place at 15-under par.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Garrett Risner posted Elon's low round of the day in the first day with a 68. Risner led Elon with an eagle on hole 10 and five birdies to tie for fifth in the individual standings (-5). He also leads the field in par-4 scoring average (3.67).
- With a round of 72, Matthew Doyle is tied for 18th in the individual standings (-1). Doyle made four birdies and leads the team in par-3 scoring average (2.75).
- Juan Callejo Ropero and Bronson Myers both finished the day even (73). Myers had a team-high 13 pars for the Phoenix. Callejo is tied for second on the team in birdies with four.
- Jack Wieler rounded out Elon's scores with an 18-hole total of 76 (+3) and is tied for 52nd after his first career college round. He was +3 after nine holes but shaved off three strokes for an even par back nine.
UP NEXT
The Invitational's second round play begins tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. The event concludes Wednesday with the final round beginning at 8:30 a.m.
