BOWLING GREEN, Fla. – The Elon University men's golf team improved on its opening round score at the Allstate Streamsong Invitational by six shots in Tuesday's second round, vaulting up two spots on the leaderboard. Only one other team improved by two positions in the team standings. Lipscomb is hosting the event at the par-73, 7,320-yard Streamsong Black Course at The Streamsong Resort.
The Phoenix turned in a 12-under par 280 on Tuesday, tied for the second lowest score of the second round. With a 15-under par and a tournament low round of 277, Kennesaw State moved into first place with a 36-hole score of 554. Tournament host, Lipscomb moved into second place with 21-under 563 after the first two rounds.
Garrett Risner continues to pace the Phoenix as he carded six birdies on the day in a 3-under par round of 70.
Matthew Doyle posted a 4-under par 69 in the second round to improve on his first-round score by three shots.
Jack Wieler advanced 18 spots on the leaderboard after turning in a 3-under par 70 in the second round.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Garrett Risner finished with a team-high six birdies on the day to remain in fifth place. He leads the team in birdies (12), which is also tied for second in the tournament. Additionally, he leads the Phoenix in par-4 scoring average (3.83) and par-5 scoring average (4.20).
- Matthew Doyle shot the low round of the day for Elon with a 69, including five birdies to advance 11 spots on the leaderboard. Doyle, now tied for seventh, has a team best par-3 scoring average with 3.00.
- With a second-round score of 70, Juan Callejo Ropero is in a tie for 25th place. The junior shot a 2-under 35 on the back nine and made three birdies on the day.
- Bronson Myers carded an eagle on the first hole to go along with three birdies and 10 pars to tie for 30th place.
- After shooting a 73 in Monday's opening round, Jack Wieler shaved three strokes in the second round with a 3-under par 70 to advance 18 spots on the leaderboard, the most by any Elon player. He posted four birdies and the day and now leads the team in pars with 25.
- As a team, Elon is second in the tournament in par-4 scoring average (3.94) and tied for second in par-5 scoring average (4.62).

The final round of the event will begin tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
