ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's basketball program and head coach Billy Taylor announced the addition of forward Brayden Crump as a midyear enrollee to the Phoenix as announced on Monday, Jan. 22. Crump signed with the program during the early NLI period in November.
A 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward from Morganton, N.C., Crump arrives to Elon after spending his prep career at Winston-Salem Christian School under head coach Antonio Lowe where he was a four-year starter. Crump also played AAU ball for Team United and head coach Michael Prunty, where he averaged 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists on the Nike EYBL Circuit.
"We are excited to welcome Brayden to our program, especially in this unique situation where he joins us at the semester break," said Taylor. "Brayden will benefit from being here early and this opportunity should provide a great springboard for him on and off the court. He is an outstanding student and credit to him for making academics and early graduation a priority. Brayden is a strong addition to our front court and gives us the shooting, versatility, and toughness we need to have success. He comes from a winning tradition at Winston-Salem Christian High School, has high character and fits our Elon Basketball values as a student-athlete."
Crump was also named the County Athlete of the Year while also being an athlete in track and field at Winston-Salem Christian. He broke two school records in track and field in the triple jump and the shot put. He was also an Honors Grad with a 4.0 GPA.
