HUMACAO, PR – Matthew Doyle is tied for the lead in the field with a 5-under par 67 leading the Elon men's golf team after round one of the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate.
UNCG is hosting the tournament at the par-72, 7,122-yard Palmas del Mar Golf Club in Humacao, PR.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Matthew Doyle is tied for the individual lead after carding six birdies and an eagle to finish with a 5-under par 67. He is tied for the lead in par-3 scoring at 2.50 and leads the Phoenix with six birdies and par-5 scoring average at 4.00.
- Jack Wieler is tied for 26th place with an even-par 72 recording four birdies. Wieler and Doyle lead the team in par-4 scoring average (4.10).
- With a 3-over par 75, Bronson Myers is in a tie for 61st place after recording 10 pars and three birdies.
- Garrett Risner is in a tie for 81st place with a 5-over par 77 while Juan Callejo Ropero is tied for 85th place with a 78 (+6).
- As an individual, Jennings Glenn shot a 79 (+7) in the opening round to tie for 90th place.
- As a team, Elon is tied for 12th place with a 3-over par 291.
UP NEXT
- The second round will begin tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
- The Phoenix takes a break before hitting the road on Mar. 11-12 to compete in the Tigers Invitational hosted in Auburn, AL.
