HUMACAO, PR – The Elon University men's golf team sits tied for 11th place at 580 (+4) in the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate after round two. UNCG is hosting the tournament at the par-72, 7,122-yard Palmas del Mar Golf Club in Humacao, PR.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Matthew Doyle remains as Elon's top finisher after carding a 74 (+2) in round two, including an eagle on hole seven. Doyle is tied for 11th place with a three-under par 141 and is still tied for the lead in the field in par-3 scoring average at 2.75 while leading the team in birdies (10) and par-5 scoring average (4.25).
- Garrett Risner moved up 29 spots on the individual leaderboard, cutting seven strokes off his score with a 2-under par 70 in the second round. Risner leads the Phoenix in par-4 scoring average at 4.20.
- Jack Wieler is tied for 51st place with a 3-over par 147 and is second on the team in par-3 scoring average (3.00).
- Juan Callejo Ropero improved his score by eight strokes in round two with a 2-under par 70 to sit in a tie for 60th place, moving up 24 spots in the individual standings. Ropero carded four birdies and is second on the team alongside Risner in par-5 scoring average (4.50).
- With another round of 75, Bronson Myers is in a tie for 71st place and leads the team in pars with 23.
- As an individual, Jennings Glenn shot a 77 (+5) in the second round to tie for 91st place.
- As a team, Elon is second in the field in par-3 scoring average at 3.15.
UP NEXT
- The second round will begin tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
- The Phoenix takes a break before hitting the road on Mar. 11-12 to compete in the Tigers Invitational hosted in Auburn, AL.
