ELON, N.C. – Elon University head cross country and associate head track and field coach
Kevin Jermyn has resigned from his position to accept a position as the head cross country coach at Duke University on Tuesday, June 11.
Jermyn spent seven seasons at Elon, leading the women's cross country program to each of the last five CAA championships. He also assisted the women's track and field program to three straight league outdoor titles from 2021-2023 while helping the Phoenix to another conference championship in the CAA's inaugural indoor championship meet in 2023. Under his guidance, Elon has broken almost every distance school record in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.
Jermyn was named the CAA Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year for the fifth time during his tenure last fall. He also helped
Hattie Reynolds earn the CAA Co-Rookie of the Year in 2023, the third CAA Rookie of the Year athlete coached by Jermyn at Elon. He has also coached four CAA Women's Runner of the Year recipients under his tutelage. Among his overall highlights as head coach was helping Maria Ahm become the first member of the women's cross country program to race at the NCAA Cross Country National Championships in the spring of 2021.
As an assistant coach for the women's track and field team, Jermyn has coached 16 event CAA champions in outdoor track and field while seeing nine runners qualify for the NCAA Regional round.
A national search for Jermyn's successor is underway, led by Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
Mark Elliston.
