ELON – The Elon women's lacrosse team announced a quartet of team captains for the 2026 season on Tuesday.
Mimi Economus,
Anna Hackett,
Ana Lee Vandiver and
Caitlin Walsh will serve as captains for the Phoenix this spring.
Economus is a senior defender from Columbus, Ohio, entering her fourth season with the program. She made a career-high 10 appearances in 2025, starting twice. She has appeared in 19 games in her Elon career.
"Being named captain this year is an incredible honor and I'm truly grateful for the trust my teammates and coaches have placed in me," Economus said. "These past four years have meant so much to me, and I'm incredibly excited for the season ahead and can't wait to compete together and see what this group can accomplish."
Hackett missed the 2025 season due to injury but will return to the field for her redshirt junior campaign. The attacker has made 30 career appearances, scoring 64 goals and 71 points. She made the All-CAA Rookie Team as a freshman and scored 32 goals in each of her first two campaigns.
"Being a captain is so special to me because I love lifting up my teammates and growing together every day, both on and off the field," Hackett said. "This team means everything to me, and I'm incredibly excited for the season ahead and the memories we'll create together."
Vandiver finished second on the Phoenix last season in points (51) and goals (39), both of which ranked top five in program history. The redshirt junior attacker has made 22 starts in 33 career appearances with the Phoenix, compiling 52 career goals and 70 points. She set career highs in goals, assists, points and shots in 2025.
"Being voted captain by my teammates has been one of the biggest honors of my athletic career," Vandiver said. "Knowing that my teammates and coaches trust me has made me a better leader and player, and I am so excited for this season. I'm sad that it's my last, but I'm so lucky to be at and play for a place and team that I cherish and love so much. Go Phoenix!"
Walsh has started 46 career games in Elon's net over her first three seasons with the program, including 42 in a row. The senior was named to the All-CAA Tournament team last season. She has made 100-plus saves in each of her first three seasons with the Phoenix and ranks second in program history in career saves (347).
"Coming into my senior year as a captain again, I am so excited to see this group put everything we've worked on in the fall onto the field this season," Walsh said. "From defense to offense, this Elon team is ready to work hard and achieve our goals. This is a special group and I am incredibly lucky to be a part of it."
Elon will open its 2026 season on Feb. 7 at VCU. After playing its first two games on the road, the Phoenix returns to Rudd Field for its home opener on Feb. 14 against Old Dominion.
