ELON - The Elon women's track & field team will take part in three meets this weekend with groups heading to the VMI Winter Relays on Friday, as well as the Camel City Sprints in Winston-Salem and the Doc Hale Invitational at Virginia Tech on Friday and Saturday.

PERSONAL, SCHOOL RECORDS SET AT LIBERTY OPEN

• Elon completed its second weekend of the indoor season at the Liberty Open on Jan. 23, highlighted by 10 personal records and one school record.
• Katie Blount set a new school record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:18.51. The Atlanta native won the event and broke the previous record by more than six seconds.
• Junior Jenna Gilman placed fifth in the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:12.92, moving into sixth on Elon's all-time indoor top-10 list.
• Sophomore Isabella Johnson placed third in the shot put with a personal best throw of 14.23 meters, moving into fourth on Elon's Top-10 Indoor shot put performances list.

 
AMONG THE CAA

• Adriana Clarke ranks first in the CAA in the weight throw. She recorded a personal-best toss of 18.81 meters at the Mondo College Invitational, moving into second on Elon's all-time list.
• Blount is second in the CAA for the 3000 meters after her record-breaking performance at the Liberty Open.

 
ELITE UNDER ELLISTON

• Elon Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Mark Elliston is in his 20th season at the helm of the Phoenix. Under his guidance, Elon has captured a combined seven CAA titles in indoor and outdoor track & field, along with four runner-up finishes.
• A six-time CAA Women's Track & Field Coach of the Year, Elliston and his staff coached 10 All-CAA honorees at last year's indoor championships, including two event champions. The Phoenix also saw three school records fall and several program top-10 marks added during the season.

 
ON DECK
Elon is scheduled to compete in two meets next weekend, with groups traveling to the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational (Feb. 13-14).
