Personal: Full name is Carlos Marcelino Marte...Born on June 10, 1999...Son of Edwin Marte and Janet Lucca...Has five siblings: three brothers, Joshua, Anthony, and Edwin Jr.; and two sisters, Daniela and Mariana.
2021: Made 17 starts in 23 games, batting .167 (8-for-48) with four runs, one triple, one double, four RBIs and one walk. He also owned a .229 slugging percentage and a .216 on-base percentage...In the field, he had an .885 fielding percentage with 23 putouts and 23 assists while helping turn five double plays...Made his debut as a Phoenix at UNCG on Feb. 21. He went 1-for-3 and scored a run...Turned in a pair of 1-for-3 outings in a doubleheader vs. VCU on Feb. 27, driving in a run in both games. He then hit 2-for-3 in the series finale on Feb. 28...At home against UNCG on March 5, he finished 1-for-3 with an RBI double. He also came around once...Tripled in a 1-for-4 outing against N.C. At Union County College: Hit .370 (17-for-46) with one double and two triples through 15-of-16 games in 2020. Scored six runs, drove in five runs, walked 10 times, and stole six bases. He had a .483 on-base percentage and a .478 slugging percentage...Finished second on the team in total hits...Turned in five multi-hit outings...Tripled twice, scored twice, brought in a run and swiped a bag as he batted 3-for-6 in an 11-5 win at Delaware County CC on March 7...Finished 3-for-4 in a loss at Catawba Valley CC on March 12.
As a freshman in 2019, he led the Owls in batting average (.372), slugging percentage (.511), at bats (180), hits (67), doubles (12), RBIs (51), and stolen bases (31).
