GREENSBORO, NC -- Amanda Eaton poured in a game-high 17 points to lead a trio of Spartans in double figures as UNCG (4-1) posted an 64-51 victory over Elon (2-3) in women’s college basketball action from Fleming Gym Saturday afternoon.

Eaton, who also led the Spartans in scoring with a career-high 18 points earlier this week at Campbell, went 6-for-9 from the field, including 3-for-5 from 3-point territory. Eaton grabbed a career-high eight rebounds, dished out three assists and registered her first career block.

The Spartans put the game away midway through the second-half. Elon clawed within three points, 37-34, with 17:37 remaining in regulation, but UNCG exploded on a 15-2 run over the next 8:04 to grab a commanding 52-36 lead. Lindsey Reed sparked the run with six of her eight points.

UNCG would hold onto a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Jennifer Hart added 16 points, five rebounds and four steals. Hart was 5-for-7 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. Jacinda Lambert rounded out the double figure scorers with 14 points, including 10 in the first-half.

Elon was just 18-for-60 from the floor for the game, good for 30-percent. Holly Andrews led the Phoenix with 17 points on 6-for-21 from the field. Andrews was the lone Elon player in double figures.

The Spartans jumped out of the gate to a quick five-point lead, 7-2, but the Phoenix answered back with an 8-0 run. Michele Hamilton closed the spurt with a 3-pointer, giving Elon a 10-7 lead at 16:10.

The Spartans and Phoenix answered buckets over the next two minutes. Jessica Williams gave Elon its last lead of the half, 17-15, with a 3-pointer at 11:10. UNCG would respond with a 16-0 run to take a 33-17 lead. The Spartans held the Phoenix scoreless over 6:35.

Elon would not go away. The Phoenix cut the deficit to just seven points at the half, 35-28, and climbed within three, 37-34, before UNCG took over.

The Phoenix will travel to Chapel Hill, NC on Tuesday night to battle the 14th-ranked Tar Heels of North Carolina. Tip is slated for 7:00 p.m.
