ELON, N.C. –
Following a 13-day break, the Elon University women’s basketball team is back in action on Saturday, Dec. 18, for a 2 p.m. White Out versus the Western Carolina Catamounts. The first 500 Elon fans in attendance will receive a free Phoenix basketball T-shirt at the door for the team’s first Southern Conference home game of the season.

THE SERIES: Western Carolina leads the all-time series, 16-15. Elon dropped its last meeting to WCU, 75-48, on Feb. 13, 2010 in Elon, but captured a 59-54 win in Cullowhee on Jan. 9, 2010. Saturday's game marks the earliest meeting between the two teams since they met on Dec. 6 during the 2000-01 season.

LOOKING BACK: Elon captured its first road win of the season on Dec. 5, topping Morgan State, 69-61, in Baltimore. Ali Ford scored a season-high 24 points, while Julie Taylor, a Columbia, Md. native, tallied 13 points in her return to the Old Line State.

THE BAREFOOT FILE: Elon head coach Karen Barefoot enters Saturday's game with a 194-134 career record in her 13th season as a head coach, including a 22-48 mark in her third season with the Phoenix.

GIVE ME A BREAK: Elon’s 13-day layoff between its last game on Dec. 5 at Morgan State and Saturday’s game on Dec. 18 versus WCU is the team’s longest since the 2007-08 season when the Phoenix had a 15-day break between games (Dec. 21-Jan. 5).

PHOENIX IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS: As a team, Elon currently ranks 15th in the nation in blocked shots per game (5.6), 50th in scoring offense (72.5) and 57th in steals per game (11.1).
