ELON, N.C. – The Elon women's basketball team hosts Big Ten opponent Rutgers in its 2016-17 home opener on Monday, Nov. 14, at 5:30 p.m. as part of an Elon basketball doubleheader in Alumni Gym.

Quick 2016-17 Preview
The Scarlet Knights return eight letterwinners from last year's roster in addition to eight newcomers joining the team, while head coach C. Vivian Stringer begins her 22nd season at the helm of the program. The team will be without returning leading scorer and rebounding Tyler Scaife (17.4 ppg and 2.9 rbg last year) as she sits out the season with an injury. The loss of Scaife leaves the Scarlet Knights without any main returning starters. Rutgers will look to Shrita Parker, who played in 31 games last year, including 14 starts, as she returns 5.1 points and 2.8 boards per game.
 
Quick 2015-16 Recap
Rutgers went 19-15 last season and finished 10th in the Big Ten after an 8-10 record in conference play. The Scarlet Knights earned a bid to the WNIT, advancing to the second round after a 57-55 win against Georgetown. Virginia ended Rutgers season with a 71-55 final in Piscataway.
