ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's basketball team brings a four-game winning streak into Alumni Gym on Wednesday night, Nov. 30, as the Phoenix hosts the FIU Panthers. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. Elon Athletics will pay tribute to the late president emeritus Dr. James Earl Danieley at the game.
TOYS FOR TOTS TICKET SPECIAL
The Elon men's basketball program will be teaming up with the Elon Student Government Association and the Office of Student Health and Wellness in sponsoring donations for "Toys for Tots" on campus. You can help at upcoming home games on Wednesday against FIU and on Dec. 6 against UNC Asheville. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the FIU and UNC Asheville games and you will receive a discounted ticket. The normal ticket prices of $15 adult & $7 youth will be discounted to $10 adult & $5 youth for each donation.

NEW BAG POLICY AT ALUMNI GYM
Beginning this season, Elon University has implemented a new policy for bags entering Alumni Gym. All bags entering the arena will be checked before fans reach the ticket booths at the facility. Multiple lines will be available and there will be specific lines for fans entering with no bags.
The following items will be prohibited from Alumni Gym:
• Weapons
• Explosives
* Alcoholic beverages
• Outside food and beverages
• Smoking and tobacco products
• E-cigarettes
• Containers or coolers
• Flags on poles
• Hoverboards
• Pets (except service animals)

LAST TIME OUT
Elon (5-1) finished 3-0 last week winning the NIU Thanksgiving Classic in DeKalb, Ill. The Phoenix defeated the UIC Flames on Nov. 23, Northern Illinois on Nov. 25 and Cal Poly on Nov. 26 to win the tournament.
SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday's matchup is the second all-time meeting between Elon and FIU. In the first meeting last season, Elon rallied from a six-point deficit with four minutes to go to earn a 77-71 victory on Dec. 4, 2015, inside FIU Arena.
BEST START IN 29 YEARS
Elon is off to its best start in 29 years with a 5-1 mark through the first six games. It is also Elon's best start in program's Division I era since 1999 and also the program's best start as a member of the NCAA. The last time an Elon squad won at least five of its first six games was in 1987-88 when the Fighting Christians, members of the NAIA, started the season 6-0. This is also the first time in the program's Division I era that Elon has started a season 4-0 away from home.
ELON CRACKS MID-MAJOR POLL
The Elon University men's basketball team cracked the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll today, Nov. 28, earning a No. 23 ranking. It's Elon's first appearance in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 since Feb. 4, 2013, when the Phoenix earned a No. 25 ranking. The Phoenix is off to its best start in 29 years and is currently on a four-game winning streak after winning the NIU Thanksgiving Classic last week. The maroon and gold stands at 5-1 overall thus far. Elon joins UNCW (5-1) as the only other CAA team in the Mid-Major Top 25.

LUKE EDDY NAMED CAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior guard
Luke Eddy was named the CAA Player of the Week on Nov. 27 after averaging a team-high 14.3 points and 2.7 assists to help Elon finish 3-0 last week as the Phoenix captured the NIU Thanksgiving Classic. The Charleston, W. Va. native went 6-for-6 from the floor, including 4-of-4 from three, and scored a season-best 25 points in a win over Cal Poly in the tournament finale. In addition, Eddy also had 10 points and five assists against host Northern Illinois and eight points vs. UIC. For the week, Eddy was 7-for-8 from beyond the arc and shot 64.7% overall to help lead the Phoenix to its best start in 29 years with a 5-1 mark. Eddy currently ranks first in the CAA with his 64.7 three-point field goal percentage and is fifth in the league averaging 4.5 assists per game.
With the award, Eddy earns his second-career conference player of the week honor. He was named CAA Player of the Week on Dec. 15, 2014 after coming off the bench to score a career-high 27 points in a narrow 78-73 setback at Missouri on Dec. 11, 2014. Eddy earns Elon's fourth CAA Player of the Week honor since the Phoenix joined the league. The last player to earn player of the week accolades was
Tanner Samson last season on Dec. 7, 2015.
HEAD COACH MATT MATHENY
Head coach
Matt Matheny won his 110th game at Elon on Thursday, Nov. 17, at South Florida. With the win, he passed Mark Simons for the fifth most in program history. Matheny currently has 113 career victories and is three wins away from moving into fourth all-time. Robert "Bob" Burton (1986-93) won 115 games at Elon.
HIGH POWERED OFFENSE
The Phoenix (5-1) is currently averaging 86.3 points per game, which is first in the CAA and ranked in the top-25 in NCAA Division I (T-22). Elon is currently shooting 50.8 percent from the field, which ranks 15th nationally and is ranked 21st in the NCAA and first in the CAA averaging 10.0 three-pointers per game. Elon has brought back most of its players from last season that contributed to the fourth-highest scoring team in the CAA. The Phoenix averaged 75.9 points per game, were second in the CAA with 15.3 assists per game, and a league-best 9.5 triples per game.
Dainan Swoope and
Tyler Seibring contributed to Elon's success behind the three-point line ranking 12th (60 3PTM) and 13th (59 3PTM) respectively.
Luke Eddy also finished with 144 assists last season, which is the 10th-most assists in Elon single-season record books.
331 AND COUNTING
The Elon men's basketball program has made at least one three-point field goal in 331 consecutive games (not including exhibition games). The last time Elon did not make a three in a game was Jan. 30, 2006, at Georgia Southern when the team went 0-of-14 from deep. Elon is currently averaging 10.0 triples per game, which ranked 21st in the NCAA this season.The Phoenix averaged 9.5 made three pointers a game last season.

Seth Fuller (Dublin, Ohio) into the fold.
Luke Eddy and
Christian Hairston will bring senior leadership on the floor. Eddy finished third in the CAA in assists last season and his 144 assists ranked 10th most in single-season program history.
SCOUTING FIU
The FIU Panthers (3-4) enter the game on a two-game winning streak picking up victories against Ave Maria (11/23) and Binghamton (11/27). Donte McGill is averaging a team-high 18 points and has made eight triples so far this season. FIU brings back three starters and eight letterwinners from last season. There will be a lot of new faces this season as five transfers and one freshman join the squad. FIU lost a key player in Adrian Diaz, who was an All-Conference USA Defensive Team and Second Team selection. Donte McGill highlights the returners and was FIU's second leading scorer last season. The team has an experienced group, as nine of the 14 players are upperclassmen.
UP NEXT
Elon will be away from home for the fifth time this season on Sunday, Dec. 4, when the Phoenix heads to Washington, D.C. to take part in the BB&T Classic. Elon will face Georgetown at 1:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcasted on FS1. The Phoenix returns home on Tuesday, Dec. 6, to host UNC Asheville inside Alumni Gym. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. and will be aired exclusively on Phoenix All-Access.
