Women’s Basketball Opponent Preview: Akron

ELON, N.C. – The Elon women's basketball team travels to Atlanta for the GSU Holiday Classic for a two-game set before the holiday break, facing Akron first on Wednesday, Dec. 21, in a 1 p.m. tip on the campus of Georgia State.

The Zips were picked to finish third in the MAC East Division in the preseason poll voted on by the league's 12 head coaches. Hannah Plybon, who returns her 16.3 points per game this season, was named to the Preseason All-Mid-American Conference East team. Akron returns eight players from last year and welcomes one transfer and six true freshmen.
 
Quick 2015-16 Recap
Akron earned a spot in the WNIT last season after posting its fourth consecutive 19-win campaign with a 19-14 overall record, including an 11-7 mark in MAC play. The Zips registered its fourth straight and sixth overall postseason appearance in the WNIT as the team hosted Bucknell in the first round. The Bison ended the Zips' season with a 74-70 final in James A. Rhodes Arena.
