Phoenix Set to Continue Conference Play Against James Madison and Towson

ELON, N.C.-- Elon women's basketball will host James Madison and Towson inside Schar Center on Feb. 4 and 6.

THE MATCHUP
-JMU owns a 16-5 all-time record against the Phoenix.
-The Phoenix leads the overall series against the Tigers, 9-4. 

SCOUTING THE PHOENIX
-The Phoenix (10-7, 2-5 CAA) fell to Delaware in its last game on Jan. 30, 65-87.
-Brie Perpignan finished the game with a season-high 25 points, shooting 8-of-18 from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. The guard also added six assists, four rebounds and three steals.
-Liles paced the Phoenix in rebounds (7) while also chipping in 18 points, two blocks and one steal.
-Peyton Carter and Bria Harmon combined for 14 points, five rebounds and one assist on the day.
-Maya Johnson and Tyja Traore added three blocks apiece. Johnson matched her career-high, while Traore set a new personal best.   
-Perpignan enters the game tied for 17th in the country in assists per game (5.7).
-The maroon and gold is led by 11th-year head coach Charlotte Smith, the winningest coach in program history.

SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
-James Madison ranks fifth in conference standings with a 9-10 (5-3 CAA) record.
-The Dukes snapped a three-game winning streak on Jan.30 as they came up short against Northeastern, 50-62.
-Kiki Jefferson led the Dukes with 20 points, while Jaylin Carodine recorded a team-high 12 boards and a career-best five steals.
-Jefferson became the 32nd member of the 1000-point club in program history on Jan. 28 when the Dukes defeated Hofstra (65-53).
-The Dukes were predicted to finish third in the CAA preseason poll. Jefferson and Peyton McDaniel were tabbed preseason first and second-team selections.
-James Madison is led by Sean O'Regan.

SCOUTING TOWSON
-Towson (15-4, 6-2 CAA) is currently third in the conference, winning its past three games.
-The Tigers defeated Hofstra on Sunday, Jan. 30, 86-45. The 41-point win marked the largest margin of victory in program history against the Pride.
-Aleah Nelson led the way for the Tigers with 19 points and five assists, with Anissa Rivera following with her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
-The Tigers came into the weekend ranked 22nd in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25.
-Towson was picked to finish fourth in the CAA preseason poll. Nelson was named second team preseason all-conference, while Rayne Tucker and Rivera both earned honorable mentions.
-The Tigers will face William & Mary on Feb. 4 prior to facing the Phoenix.
-The head coach of Towson is Diane Richardson.

PLAY4KAY
-The Phoenix will have its annual Play4Kay game against the Tigers on Sunday, Feb. 6 in addition to raising money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund throughout the month of February.
