ELON, N.C. — The Elon women's basketball team (7-15, 3-6) looks to bounce back this weekend as the travel to Hampton (2-17, 2-7) Friday, Feb. 9 for a 7 p.m. matchup against the Lady Pirates. On Sunday, Feb. 11 the Phoenix will return home to welcome UNCW (4-16, 2-7) for the team's annual Play4Kay game at 1 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY VS. HAMPTON, UNCW
- The all-time series between the Phoenix and the Lady Pirates is tied 2-2.
- Elon fell in their last meeting with Hampton 57-54 in Schar Center on Jan. 1, 2023.
- The Phoenix holds a 16-8 edge over the Seahawks in the all-time series.
- The teams met twice last season with Elon falling on the road 62-58 before defeating the Seahawks in their most recent matchup at home 52-42 on March 2, 2023.
- Elon leads UNCW in the all-time series 8-3 when playing at home.
LAST TIME OUT
- The maroon and gold are coming off an 0-2 weekend where they fell to Northeastern 51-46 and Campbell 53-35.
- Iycez Adams led the Phoenix in scoring and rebounding for the two consecutive contests netting 13 points and grabbing eight boards against the Lady Camels.
- Adams has scored double-figures in seven of the team's nine CAA matchups.
- Maraja Pass and Ajia James followed, scoring eight points apiece.
- James swiped a career-high four steals, followed by Adams with two.
- The maroon and gold forced 13 turnovers in the first half while adding six steals, three of which came from James.
- Elon outnumbered the Lady Camels steals (9-4) while forcing 18 turnovers.
- The Phoenix continues to hold their opponents to under 65 points in league play.
SCOUTING HAMPTON
- Hampton is coming off a 0-2 weekend in CAA play where they fell on the road to Charleston 85-57 and 77-70 to UNCW.
- The Lady Pirates are 2-17 overall and 2-7 in league play, defeating UNCW and Hofstra.
- Last season, Hampton went 12-18 overall and 8-10 in conference play finishing ninth in the CAA.
- The Lady Pirates were picked to finish 13th in the 2023-24 CAA Preseason Poll.
- Senior Camryn Hill leads the team averaging 15.1 points per game ranking fifth in the conference. Hill is shooting 37.3 percent from the field and 29.9 percent from the three-point line. She also paces the team averaging 0.9 blocked shots per game tying for 11th in the league.
- On the glass, Jenae Dublin leads the team with 5.2 boards per game.
- Amyah Reaves leads the team in assists with 2.5 per game and ranks fifth in the CAA in steals per game at 2.1.
- David Six enters his 15th season at the helm of the Lady Pirates and stands as the Hampton University basketball all-time winningest coach.
SCOUTING UNCW
- Last weekend the Seahawks went 1-1 in league play falling to North Carolina A&T, 76-43 before defeating Hampton 77-70.
- UNCW now sits with a 4-16 record overall and is 2-7 in CAA play with their only wins coming against Hampton and Campbell.
- Last season, the team posted a 5-25 overall record while going 2-16 in CAA play.
- UNCW was picked to finish 14th in the 2023-24 CAA Preseason Poll.
- Three Seahawks players are averaging double figures led by Taylor Henderson with 14.0 points per game, ranking ninth in the league. Evan Miller follows with 12.3 point per game and Kylah Silver with 10.4.
- Senior center Lexi Jackson leads the Seahawks on the glass with 8.7 boards per game followed by Henderson with 5.2.
- Henderson also paces the team in assists per game with (2.5) and steals per game (2.1) while Jackson and Sammy Ackles share the team lead in blocks with 13.
- Nicole Woods is in her first season with the Seahawks program. Prior to taking over the UNCW team, Woods was on staff at Charlotte for 10 years where she most recently served as an associate head coach for the 49ers.
