ELON – The Elon women's basketball team will play its fourth straight game away from home when it takes on East Carolina on Sunday afternoon in Greenville. Tipoff between the Phoenix (3-4) and the Pirates (4-5) is slated for 2 p.m. ET at the Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP
- Series record: East Carolina leads 11-2
- The Phoenix has dropped the last nine contests against the Pirates, most recently including a 60-43 setback on Nov. 8, 2024, in Greenville.
- Sunday's matchup marks the third straight year the Phoenix and Pirates have clashed.
STARTING FIVE
1. Rookie Rise Continues
- Tamia Watkins was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Monday after she averaged 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds during a three-game week that included a 1-1 record at the Paradise Jam.
- After scoring six points in each of her first two games last week, the Kershaw, South Carolina, product impressed during her second game of the Paradise Jam, with a near double-double. Her 11 points marked the second time this season she has eclipsed double-digit points, while her seven rebounds were a team high in the 65-57 win over North Dakota.
- Watkins currently ranks second on the team in rebounding (4.6 RPG) and is shooting 42.9% (21-for-49) from the field for the season.
2. Walker In Motion
- Junior Tyana Walker joins LaNae' Corbett and Quinzia Fulmore as a transfer on the Elon roster after spending her last two seasons at Howard, where she was named 2024 MEAC Rookie of the Year and was selected to the All-Rookie Team.
- Walker scored a season-best 22 points to lead the Phoenix in a loss against Tulane on Nov. 27 at the Paradise Jam, shooting 50% (8-for-16) from the floor and 67% (6-for-9) from the three-point line. She was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Harbor Division at Paradise Jam.
- Walker nearly notched a double-double in the season opener at ETSU, finishing with nine points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
- She leads the team with 11 made three-pointers, which ranks 12th in the conference, and averages 1.2 per game. She also ranks 10th in the conference in three-point percentage (34.4%).
3. Island Grind
- Elon went 1-1 at Paradise Jam over the Thanksgiving Holiday in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
- The team fell 64-61 against Tulane in its opening game with Walker leading the way with 22 points.
- Corbett recorded three steals for the third straight game, while Maraja Pass posted five assists for the third time this season against the Green Wave.
- The 11 made threes versus Tulane marked a season-high and the program's most in a game since hitting 11 against William & Mary on March 3, 2022.
- The team followed the setback, defeating North Dakota 65-57 in a full-team effort win.
- Watkins reached double figures for the second time this season with 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting and added a team-high seven rebounds.
- Pass scored a season-high nine points, going 100% (2-for-2) from the three-point line.
- The Phoenix shot 36.4% from the three-point line over the break, two consecutive games shooting about 30% from deep.
4. No Fly Zone
- Elon is a top-100 team nationally in three-point percentage defense, allowing its opponents to shoot just 26.8% from the floor.
- The Phoenix has held four of its seven opponents to shooting 25% or worse (13-77 total) from beyond the arc.

5. Strong Inside, Been Here Before
- Fulmore, a graduate transfer, and Corbett, a sophomore transfer, have played in the CAA before, giving the Phoenix an experience boost with two of their newcomers.
- Fulmore is a powerhouse inside and continues to lead the Phoenix on the boards with 5.4 rebounds per game, which ranks 19th in the CAA. She is also tied for 11th in the CAA in blocks per game (0.8).
- Corbett leads the Phoenix offense with four double-figure scoring games this season while averaging a team-high 8.9 PPG.
- Both Corbett and Fulmore showcased a strong post presence against Presbyterian two games ago on Nov. 10, as both reached double figures and combined for 28 points.
- The duo led the team both in double-figures, combining for 22 points at Georgetown.
- Corbett ranks 12th in the CAA, averaging 1.6 steals per game.
