Women’s Basketball Travels To Towson Sunday

ELON, N.C. — The Elon women's basketball team (11-9, 5-4 CAA) travels to Towson (5-15, 3-6 CAA) for a 1 p.m. matchup against the Tigers on Sunday.

SERIES HISTORY
  • The Phoenix leads the all-time series against Towson, 9-7.
  • Elon has lost the last four meetings with the Tigers, including a 58-53 setback on Jan. 5, 2024.
LAST TIME OUT
  • Elon went 0-2 last weekend, falling to William & Mary and Monmouth.
  • Jayda Angel led the team in scoring for the seventh time this season, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals against the Tribe.

JAYDA'S ANGELS
  • Freshman Jayda Angel has earned four CAA Rookie of the Week honors so far in the 2024-25 season.
  • Angel led the team in scoring for the seventh time this season, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals against the Tribe.
  • Angel tied for the team-lead with nine points and five rebounds against Drexel.
  • Angel led the Phoenix in scoring off the bench with 14 points in the win over Delaware, also matching her season-high with four assists to pace the team.
  • Angel was named CAA Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season after an outstanding weekend, averaging 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals in Elon's victories over Stony Brook and Hofstra.
  • Jayda Angel recorded her eighth double-figure scoring performance of the season with 14 points against the Pride, along with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
  • In the team's win over Stony Brook, Angel led the team with nine rebounds and three steals.

SCOUTING TOWSON
  • Towson enters the weekend with a 5-15 overall record and a 3-5 mark in conference play, having defeated Delaware 62-48 before falling to Drexel 53-49.
  • The Tigers finished last season with a 20-11 overall record and an 11-7 mark in the CAA, placing sixth in the league before falling to Drexel in the CAA Quarterfinals.\
  • Towson was projected to finish third in the conference this season, receiving one first-place vote.
  • Patricia Anumgba earned All-CAA Preseason First Team honors but suffered a season-ending injury earlier this season.
  • Three Towson players average double figures: India Johnson (11.8), Khady Leye (11.0), and Anasia Staton (10.5).
  • Leye leads the team with 6.8 rebounds per game and has earned four CAA Rookie of the Week honors.
  • Shariah Baynes averages a team-best 2.5 assists per game, while Kayla Morris leads the team with 13 blocks.
