Dorado, Puerto Rico – The Elon men's golf team shot an even par 288 in the first round of the Dorado Beach Collegiate Sunday on the par-72, 7,112 yard Sugarcane Course of the Dorado Beach Resort and Club (TPC).
Day One Results
Elon's 288 has the Phoenix tied with No. 44 Virginia Tech among the 13-team field. Ball State leads at -14 (274), followed by UNC Greensboro at -13 (275) and Wofford at -12 (276).
In the team scoring, junior
Bronson Myers led Elon on day one with a 2-under 70. He had five birdies and three bogeyes to sit in a tie for 18
th place in the individual standings. Sophomore
Pedro Rabadan finished just one stroke behind at 1-under 71.
Freshman
Matthew Doyle posted a 73 and freshman
Juan Callejo Ropero recorded Elon's only eagle of the day, finishing with a 74, after carding a three on the par 5, 525 yard sixth hole. Sophomore
Garrett Risner followed with a 75.
Among individuals, freshman
Timmy Gannon scored a 72 and grad student
Graham Hutchinson had a 73. Seniors
Cristian Del Vecchio and
Dawson Daniels each posted a 75, while grad student
Max Ferrari recorded a 76. Senior
Josef Dransfeld scored 78.
Elon will return to action for day two of the Dorado Beach Collegiate Monday.
