Men's Golf Finishes Seventh At Dorado Beach Collegiate

DORADO, PUERTO RICO – The Elon men's golf team finished seventh at the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Tuesday, March 1, at the Dorado Beach Resort and Club (TPC). The 13-team field played the club's par-72, 7,112-yard Sugarcane Course.

Elon's three-round total of 856 saw the Phoenix end the tournament eight-under par. UNC Greensboro finished first with a 29-under par 835, with Drexel closely following at 839 (-25) and Ball State finishing in third place at 842 (-22). UNCG's Nick Lyerly finished at 14-under with a 202 to come in first in the individual standings. Drexel's Angelo Giantsopoulos and Drue Nicholas were one stroke behind Lyerly and tied for second with scores of 13-under 203.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
Matthew Doyle made another jump in the standings into a tie for fifth after turning in a 66 on the day. He rounded out the tournament seven-under par with a 54-hole total of 209. Garrett Risner carded a four-under par 68 in the third and final round and ended tied for 33rd with an even 216. Bronson Myers finished one stroke behind Risner, posting a 217 (+1) to end the competition tied for 38th. Juan Callejo Ropero tied for 50th after shooting a 219 (+3) and Pedro Rabadan tied for 60th after finishing the tournament six-over par (222). and Graham Hutchinson finished in a tie for 50th after shooting a 219 (+3).

Among Elon's individuals, Timmy Gannon totaled a 221 (+5), good for a tie for 57th. Graham Hutchinson tied for 50th at 219 and Max Ferrari tied for 60th at 222. Cristian Del Vecchio ended with a three-round score of 223 (+7) while Dawson Daniels shot 75 in each round to finish with a 225 (+9). Josef Dransfeld rounded out Elon's scores with a 242 (+26).

Elon returns to action on March 7-8 when it travels to Southern Pines, N.C. to compete in the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic.
