LYNCHBURG, Va. – Elon’s
Allyson Oram set a new meet record in the 3,000-meter run today, Feb. 8, as the Phoenix track and field team competed at the Liberty Quad. Oram ran a time of 10:03.88 in the race, breaking the previous meet mark by nearly 22 seconds and taking one of four event titles for the maroon and gold at the Tolsma Indoor Track Facility.
Oram’s run set a new personal-best for the Marlborough, Mass., native and is the second fastest time at Elon. Two other Phoenix harriers also broke the previous meet record as
Tereza Novotna (10:17.67, 3rd) and
Haylee Dawe (10:25.15, 5th) joined Oram in the top-five of the race. All three were ECAC qualifiers.
Freshman
Sydney Griffin took her first event title in the 60-meter hurdles after clocking in at 8.87.
Louise Prevoteau was also in the top-five with a time of 9.15.
Griffin was also impressive in the 200-meter dash with a time and a ECAC qualifying mark of 25.34 as the runner-up.
Jennifer Pash joined Griffin in the top-10 after clocking a 26.44.
Prevoteau won the long jump with a leap of 18’2.25” (5.54m) and was joined by
Marie Borowycz in the top-five with a mark of 17’1.25”.
Janelle McNeil finished second overall in the triple jump at mark of 36’2” (11.02m).
Haley Laird won the high jump title after clearing the bar at 5’5.75” (1.67m). Prevoteau also competed for Elon and finished third with a cleared height of 5’4.25” (1.63m).
In the 400-meter dash,
Veronica Luedke clocked in at 58.77 and finished second overall.
Ellie Taff ran a time of 2:19.95 for a sixth place standing in the 800-meter run.
Caroline McCaslin was the top finisher for the Phoenix in the one-mile run with a time of 5:18.37 and finished ninth.
Charlise Morgan had a ECAC qualifying mark in the shot put with a toss of 44’7.50” (13.60m) as the runner-up.
Kimberlyn Holt threw the second best mark in program history in the weight throw with a heave of 51.9.25” (15.78m).
Freshman
Bria Turner tied the second fastest mark in school history in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.88 and finished in third place.
Elon will compete next in the Virginia Tech Challenge on Feb. 15-16, prior to the Southern Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 23-24.
